 ASSESMENT AND EVALUATION 


It is thought that the teachers assess their students understanding of what is being taugh throughout activities, tasks, feedbacks and so on, That the majority of the time it finishes with any grade analysis of their learning status. Whereas teachers evaluate the result or product of what they have learned throughout quizzes, test, projects, essays an so on, in which the majority of them finishes with grades results.

  1. Teachers are forced to evaluate their students mainly with quizzes and exams, it is no really surprising see that the vast majority of teachers have fallen into the comfort of evaluating only in this way due to the fact that it is seen as a quick, easy and safe method to evaluate.

  2. That is the big problem the traditional way to asses and the poor point of view of some teachers, parents, institutions and society in general. This is why it is importan that we as a new generation of teachers take and follow new strategies and perspectives to focus on the students' processes, responses and learning, but not only, on the final result.

  3. Unfortunately our society focuses on the number, the product, rather than on the process. We are in a culture where, academically talking, you are better or worse acccording to your marks. Even when you want to get a job or a studying opportunity, sometimes you are asked to bring your grades register. That is why we need to change that, maybe we are not going to see immediate results, but at least we must try to change that old and mistaken concept.

  4. In our society numbers are most important that quality. The majority of the teachers do not know the difference between Assessment and evaluation. For that reason, students start to worry about get high scores instead of quality.For that reason, we as teachers must to learn about that, in order to provide them a better learning in their process.
